Dancing is something any child can be taught to appreciate; it is a wonderful art form and is something they will keep for life. Dance helps to develop their co-ordination, fitness, rhythm, musicality, and expression as well as promoting self-discipline and boosting self-confidence. Talented dancers do not simply dance they require supportive parents, personal diligence and matching perseverance and commitment on the part of their teacher to nurture them as they grow.

Acclaim has a team of talented teachers with many qualifications and years of experience. who pride themselves in teaching all students to be the best they can be, while encouraging them to enjoy their dancing.
Students are offered the opportunity to take part in examinations, competition work and the annual concert. Acclaim is for everyone and has a variety of classes for children and adults. Our studio offers a happy and friendly atmosphere while still maintaining a high standard of work.
Examinations
Exams are offered in all styles. It is recommended that all students consider doing exams as they offer a challenge and a great sense of achievement. Exams are not compulsory and children may progress through the grades without taking exams each year when the teacher feels they have the necessary training. The exams are held during the months of July, August and September. All students sitting the exams are required to attend 1 week of training (per style) during the July school holidays. Ballet students from grade 1 and above who with to take exams are required to enrol in multiple ballet classes and a national character class. Other styles may also require extra classes if the student wishes to participate in exams.
Performance Troupe (audition only)
Competition work is offered for Troupe, Hip Hop, Cheerleading, solos and duo/trio combinations. They are not compulsory and are offered to students that study all styles of dance. These students are required to sit exams in ballet, jazz and tap and will attend extra classes for troupe, solo and duo/trio routines. Private lessons are by appointment and invitation only. Competitions are held at various times throughout the year in Canberra and interstate.
Annual Concert
The concert is for all students and is their chance to show their family and friends all the hard work they have been doing during the year. There are costume and make-up requirements and all students will be advised of their requirements in Term 3. The concert is not compulsory but is encouraged for all students. It gives students the opportunity to experience performing on stage and in front of an audience, which they will remember for years to come.
The benefits of exams, competitions and the concert are many. They give the opportunity for teachers and examiners to assess and evaluate the progress of the student and the methods used within the studio. They provide the individual with a sense of achievement and provide a foundation for future goals. They also give the students something to strive for and work towards throughout the year. Students who participate in extra curricular activities like exams gain confidence within themselves.
Class Viewing
Parents and siblings are not permitted to watch the classes as it is a distraction to the students.
